This is part of the Well Service and Workover Series.;
The recovery operation for a stuck pipe, packers, and loose equipment in a well is generally termed fishing. Any mechanical equipment run into a well, if operated under heavy stress, may fail sooner or later despite care of manufacture, handling, and installation. Almost every fishing job presents special problems that require careful analysis and exercise of good judgment at each step in the procedure. This work usually involves small-diameter tools and light loads, but the fishing string is frequently tubing that will not withstand the rough treatment and heavy loads employed when drill pipe is used.
This training manual describes fishing tools and techniques, with particular emphasis on cased-hole fishing problems. Readable language, clearly labeled illustrations and photographs, and helpful self-test review questions are included to help the reader comprehend the material. ISBN 0-88698-066-6. 1971, 52 pp.
