Handling and Running Casing (DVD)
The lengths of steel tubing that we know as casing performs several vital functions inside the well. For example, a casing string stabilizes the wall of the hole and keeps it from caving in. What’s more, a string of casing correctly cemented in the hole keeps formation fluids from migrating from one zone to the other. Preventing fluid migration protects upper zones from contamination and prevents underground blowouts. So casing is important. This training video shows the procedures drilling and casing crews should follow to safely and properly handle and run casing into the hole. Includes unloading and stacking procedures, tallying, picking up, tonging, and lowering into the wellbore. Also points out the importance of frequent mud fill-up. Produced in cooperation with Transocean. 2000, 16 minutes, video production.
